On Friday, two New York state track and field championships went to mid-Hudson Valley athletes. On Saturday, Darnell Cummings doubled that total.
The Millbrook senior standout began his day with the state Division 2 title in the 100-meter dash — the third year in a row he's won the honor — continued the day by winning his first state Division 2 title in the 200, and then kept the party rolling with a Federation title in the 100.
Pawling's Sami Jorgensen also can call herself a state champion, taking top honors in the Division II 2,000 steeplechase race.
On Friday, Pawling's Kevin Hunter finished first in the state Division 2 400 race for his first state title, before Arlington's Jordan Yamoah claimed top honors in the Federation in the pole vault.
Yamoah's winning height of 16 feet, 6 inches, surpassed Joel Carusonee's 1999 state meet record of 16-5.
